PUMPKIN PARTY!!

Sunday afternoon was our church's annual Pumpkin Party! We always have a great time, but Maddox was especially fun this year.
He played games

Rode a horse

Ate a hot dog and pumpkin pie, petted animals, got a balloon, let go of it then got another balloon, rode a train, and overcame his big fear of inflatables!
They had a huge, really cool inflatable with dinosaurs inside. We could tell that Maddox really, really wanted to go in there. But he was scared! He wanted Daddy to go in with him. But, no, Daddy was too big. Thankfully, his little friend Jackson came. Jackson is about 6 months older and braver than Maddox. I asked Jackson to hold his hand and help him in. That did it! Once he got in with Jackson, there was no turning back! The only way we even got him out of that thing was that the blower malfunctioned and the whole thing started deflating!

Everything was fun, but the absolute best part for Maddox was the huge 26 foot inflatable slide. After a few times sliding down with Daddy, Maddox was ready to try it by himself. He actually climbed up the thing (very slowly) and slid down by himself! Not once, not twice... oh only about 20 times in a row! Yes, he slept very well last night!

Evergreen Fly-In

This past weekend was the Southeastern Regional Fly-In in Evergreen, AL. We have been the past 4 or 5 years in a row, and this was Maddox's 3rd year. We knew he would have a blast this year because he LOVES airplanes! We saw plenty of them! He LOVES helicopters, too. He was so excited to be able to "drive" this Navy helicopter!

Bae bought him a model helicopter that he played with for hours!

This is the kind of helicopter that Britt wants to build one day! He wants to fly it to work!

It was a little boy's dream. Maddox also got to "drive" a firetruck

AND, an antique tractor!

But, his absolute favorite part of the whole weekend was this "bus" (aka RV) that Bae and Grandad rented.
He even got to drive it, too!!
We had a really fun time!

To the Fair?

Last Tuesday evening, we planned to go to the Fair. Britt and I hadn't been in years and, of course, Maddox had never been. So, I got Maddox dressed and ready. Got his bag packed, and we were ready to go as soon as Britt walked in the door. Maddox was excited to "go to fair" even though he didn't know what to expect! Well.... we never made it there. We sat in traffic for 45 minutes and decided to forget it. It was already getting close to bedtime. We had no idea it would be that crowded! We told Maddox, "sorry. The fair was closed." So, we went to McDonald's for french fries and ice cream!
As you can see, we still had fun! And, we saved a bunch of money!! Maybe we will make it to the fair next year...

The Pumpkin Patch!

This evening, we went to the pumpkin patch at Christ United Methodist Church. We bought 3 pumpkins to carve, and Maddox picked out 3 little baby pumpkins. It was a lot of fun. Enjoy the pictures!

Here are some favorite pictures of last year's trip to the pumpkin patch. He was such a baldy this time last year! I didn't think he would ever get any hair!

This is Maddox's very first trip to the pumpkin patch when he was only 2 1/2 months old. He wasn't very fond of it that year! But, wasn't he a cutie??

ROLL TIDE!

Last Saturday, Maddox went to his first Alabama game. He was a good boy and we had a great time! We flew up to Tuscaloosa with another lawyer and his son.

Ready for take-off!
Shortly after we took off, I told Maddox to close his eyes and take a nap. And, he did! He slept for the whole hour flight.

We made it to T-town!

He's ready with his Bama football and his Big Al!

The fam

We took a shuttle to campus, ate some lunch, then walked around on the quad for a little while and visited with some old friends.
The quad on game-day has changed so much. They have tons of vendors and stuff for kids to do. They had some giant inflatables for kids. Maddox won't have anything to do with an inflatable trampoline (he's scared of them!). But, he had a blast sliding down the giant slide with his Daddy!

It was only $1 per slide!

They slid twice, and he cried for more!
Next, we walked by Gorgas Library and Denny Chimes for some photo-ops.

On the steps of Gorgas Library

At Denny Chimes

His whole hand fits in 3 fingers of that handprint!

Then, we headed to the game. We walked up, and up and up to get to our seats in the upper deck!

Are we almost to the top?

We made it to our seats and cheered the Tide to a victory over Kentucky!

Muscle Man!

This afternoon, Maddox was pulling colored pencils out of a box and naming all the colors. Of course, by the time I got the video camera out, he had moved on to something else. He just recently started naming a lot of colors. He knows white, black, brown, blue, green, and pink. One day, he even pointed to Britt's shirt and said "white". Then, he pointed to my arm and said "white"! Yes, I know I'm pasty white!

Since I had the camera out, I asked him to show his muscles. Hilarious!

Notice at the end of the video he says "Me strong". He has his pronouns mixed up right now. His absolute favorite phrase right now is "My do it!". Very independent!

Our 2 cats

Maddox just recently figured out that we have 2 cats. Sam and Lucy are hard to tell apart, and Lucy keeps her distance from him. The other day, I walked into the den to find this:

I believe this is the closest Maddox and Lucy have ever gotten. Of course, she was asleep and had no idea this was going on!

Thankfully, Sam is pretty good about letting Maddox pet him. He's always been a very easy-going cat. And, Maddox is usually gentle with him.
