A Big Boy Bed!
Today we converted Maddox's crib to a full size bed! He was a little upset when Daddy started taking his crib apart, but he seems to be excited about his "Big Boy Bed". In fact, he's taking his nap in it right now! I had to rock him to sleep, and I hope that doesn't become a habit! I'm sure (I hope) he'll be ok once he gets used to it!Every milestone like this makes me so proud, and also a little sad. I just can't believe he's so big! I'm just happy we'll have another tiny baby to cuddle in a few months!

20 Things About Maddox at age 29 months
1. He loves his little stuffed bunny named "Woo woo". He actually has about 8 of them!
2. He normally takes 3-31/2 hour naps.
3. He cries when it's time to take a bath, and he cries when it's time to get out of the bathtub.
4. He has only been to time-out 3 times in his life. Twice at home and once at school. Just the threat of it usually straightens him up!
5. He still sleeps in his crib and doesn't try to climb out.
6. He LOVES the show "Little Einsteins" and can sing the entire theme song.
7. His favorite game is "Hide Covers" in Mommy and Daddy's bed. One of us has to hide with him.
8. His favorite thing to do is "Play trucks".
9. He knows he has a baby sister in Mommy's tummy. He thinks her name is "Baby Sister".
10. He still likes to be rocked and sung to before bedtime.
11. He is usually a very calm and quiet little boy.
12. His favorite phrase is "My do it"! If you don't let him do it, be ready for a tantrum!
13. He can take his jacket and shoes off all by himself but can't manage his socks or anything else.
14. He prefers to have socks on at all times.
15. He refuses to sit on the potty.
16.He points out every firetruck, ambulance, police car, garbage truck, dump truck, tractor, and school bus that he sees when we are in the car.
17. He is addicted to his sippy cup and would drink tremendous amounts of juice and chocolate milk if I let him.
18. He acts very shy around strangers.
19. He is very loving and gives us lots of hugs and kisses.
20. He is a blessing from God!

Christmas 2008
Maddox is sad that Christmas is over. He was REALLY into it this year. He understood that Santa ("Ho Ho") was going to bring his presents but he also knew that Christmas is Jesus' birthday. We read lots of Christmas books and sang lots of Christmas songs. He knows every word to Jingle Bells, Away in a Manger, Go Tell it on the Mountain, and We Wish You a Merry Christmas.
His only 3 requests for Santa were a firetruck, airplanes, and a flashlight! Of course, if he saw a toy catalog he could pick out much more that he wanted!
The anticipation of Christmas was almost more than he could bear. I imagine it will be much worse next year!
I never thought I would say "Santa's watching" when my child was misbehaving, but I did! It didn't really work, though. I think he's too young to comprehend that concept. What did work was threatening to call Santa on the phone one night when he was pitching a fit in the bathtub. He stood right up and apologized!
We had a busy Christmas season, but it was all a lot of fun. We're already looking forward to next year with two little ones!
Maddox was very good about not messing with the Christmas tree. I've always taught him that he can touch with one finger, and that seems to work. He did want to play with daddy's airplane ornaments instead of hanging them on the tree. But, he forgot about them after a few days, so I was able to hang them!
Here is Mommy's Christmas card photo shoot at the Eastern Shore Center. We were supposed to have his picture made at Portrait Innovations. But, after waiting an hour past his appointment time, we decided to take matters into our own hands. I think our card turned out pretty cute and we saved a bunch of money!
We started the present opening on December 21 before Mimi and Pop went to Florence.
I think Maddox loves opening presents more than playing with what's inside. We probably could have just wrapped up some of his old toys and he would have been happy!
From Mimi and Pop, Maddox got a helicopter, some airplanes, lots of candy, etc. etc.!
Maddox and Mommy made cookies for Santa. It was a big mess, but a lot of fun!
This was actually the first year that we've been in town on Christmas Eve to attend our church's service. We were asked to do a candle lighting/scripture reading during the service. Maddox got to sit with me during the whole service. (Britt had to sit with the deacons). Maddox did very well during the service. He even pretended to read from his hymnal while we were singing!

Christmas morning was so much fun! Maddox slept until 8AM! He smiled so big when we went in his room and said "Merry Christmas"! While I changed his diaper we told him that Santa came last night. He said "No, not yet"! He couldn't believe that he day was finally here!
Santa left him a "new firetruck- a big one!" He also got the Little Einstine's laptop, plush rocket, and conductor's baton, a mickey mouse toy, a flashlight, etc, etc!
After we opened our presents from Santa and each other, we got ready for our company.
We cooked my grandmother Mom's traditional sausage cheese cloud and heavenly hash as well as some other yummy food. Britt's whole family came over for brunch. Britt's parents, sister, brother-in-law, and all 3 grandparents came! We had a good crowd and lots of fun!
Maddox loved his bathtub trumpet, his karaoke machine, a new big tractor, a new tool set, etc. ,etc!
On the 26th, we flew to Florence to enjoy Christmas with my side of the family. We had a great visit with all my grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a couple of old friends. It was a quick trip, but I'm glad we went.

Maddox played pretty well together until it got well past naptime. Then they fought over a shopping cart. The cart ended up on top of Maddox. Wish I had a picture!

Thanksgiving in Ft. Myers!
We had a wonderful time in Ft. Myers, Florida! We were there for the whole week before Thanksgiving. About 20 of us (including 5 kids under the age of 3!) stayed in a house on the bay, just a short walk from Ft. Myers Beach.
Britt, Maddox, and I flew down on Saturday, November 22 in the firm's plane.
We had a nice 3 hour flight. Maddox did very well, and I didn't throw up!

The kids played very well together! We had very few squabbles over toys. Amazing!

Grant is only 1, but was right there with them!

The weather was a little cooler than normal, but we were able to get in a couple of good beach days. Maddox LOVES the beach! He wanted to spend every waking moment there!Jeff, Britt, Dustin, and Cliff

One night, the whole group went to a good restaurant called Mel's Diner. We had a blast! A ventriloquist was there performing. Maddox thought she was pretty neat and even gave "Belle" a hug and kiss. Unfortunately, my camera was too slow to catch it!
On Thanksgiving Day, the whole family went to Heritage Palms (where Mom and Ray live). We enjoyed a delicious buffet and some time swimming in their heated pool.

We flew home on Friday, November 28. When we got home Maddox kept pointing at things in our house (the couch, the microwave, etc.) and saying "that's new"! The next day he stated that he wanted to go back to the "old house"! He still talks about going to the beach!
This was one of those trips where you just didn't want to come home. It was such a blessing to get everyone together. We had family members fly and drive down from 3 different states. I hope we can all do it again one day.
